Hardy Residence - Scottsdale, AZ
The setting for the house is a large site at the foothills of Pinacle Peak north of Scottsdale, Arizona. Distant panoramic views of Scottsdale and the surrounding mountains lie to the south and west. Dramatic views of the surrounding Pinacle Peak mountains lie in the foreground to the east.
The house opens itself to the beauty of the native landscape and views to the south with large glass walls protected from the sun with deep overhangs (floorplan).
In contrast, the north side of the house is comprised of mostly solid walls because of the proximaty of other homes.
Entry into the house through a shaded courtyard. Views of the pool and city lights beyond begin to appear.
Solid walls support large beams that lift the wood ceiling. The trusswork of the ceiling supports the roof and conceals the lighting.
